Inspirational Dreams Poems-Dream Poem by Cynthia Opurum “Dream Lives On.”
Dream Lives On
There was a time my freedom was enslaved,
A stinking rag in nobody’s land,
And a nobody in somebody’s land;
Leftovers were a merry Christmas;
Sorrow was a song sang in awe.
But somewhere in the land of nobody
Was a child who dreamt all day
For a sign of the rainbow in the sky,
From the mountainside of faith
To the valley of endurance and hope.
Dreamers dreamt and never stopped dreaming;
Dreamer dies and dream lives on;
A child in nobody’s land
Is now a king in somebody’s land;
My time to shine because dreamers’ dream is now a reality.
My oppressors’ dream was so infertile;
They would have swallowed me alive;
A torrent would have overwhelmed me;
I planted seeds in tears and sorrow,
But I have harvested with shouts of joy.
And there comes the dreamer
Who dreamed a great fertile dream,
For a child in nobody’s land
Is now a king in somebody’s land;
My time to shine because a dreamer’s dream is now a reality.
